Pleasant Day

This morning my wonderful friend, Cynthia and her beautiful baby girl Bella came over to hang out. I had to set up my alarm clock for an earlier time than I usually wake up, but it was worth chatting with her while Matthew got a few extra minutes of sleep.

Normally, Matthew sleeps in till about 10:30 a.m. - blessing right? Wrong! This poses a problem when the boys are on school schedule and I'm forced to stay awake till 1 am. Despite our many attempts to get him to sleep earlier, it never works. I think we're just destined to have a night crawler. Hoping this changes by the time he starts school or this might pose a problem. Yikes!

But this morning he actually woke up around 9:30 a.m. and boy was I surprised and honestly a little scared knowing what time he went to bed last night. I knew I was doomed for a meltdown come the afternoon.

We were able to talk to my sister Karen in PI via Skype and had a blast talking with her. We did everything from touring the home my mother and father had built there, seeing family and meeting new additions, to waving via webcam to passerbyers on the streets by the house. It sounds dorky but it was actually a lot of fun. We even got a few honks by jeepneys and waves and nods by complete strangers. Technology is pretty awesome.

Cynthia and Bella had to leave right after lunch, so I took the opportunity to catch up on a lot housework that I've been slacking off on the last few days. The hubby ran a few errands but took the boys to the park the moment he got home. It's truly a blessing when he does this because folding laundry while a 3-year old must absolutely have your presence when Chewbaca is defeated by an Ewok is somewhat hindering. LOL!

One of the things that I absolutely LOVE when the boys go on their walks to the park is that Matthew will always bring home a flower for me. See?

I don't think he knows just how happy it makes my heart when he does this and I'm hoping he won't ever stop.

Later in the afternoon, we ended up driving half an hour to Cynthia's house and hung out for a couple of hours so the kids had the opportunity to play. After our short visit, we had a special request from Daddy to stop over at Sonics and pick up some of those hotdogs they've been cleverly advertising between Man Shows (we don't have one close to where we live and since I was up there... well why not right?).

It was a great way to end the day and were so happy to have spent it having a pleasant day with friends and more perfect memories. Hope you had an awesome day as well.
