Birthday Bliss

Today, we celebrated Daniel's 7th Birthday in a few celebratory ways. Normally, the first thing we do when we wake up is make our birthday celebrants favorite breakfast. But because today was a school day and the school was honoring parent volunteers, we had to leave a little earlier than we normally did. So instead, Brandon presented Daniel with a birthday gift that he picked out from both he and little brother, Matthew.

Daniel slowly opened his gift bag and found a few Beyblades, a portable stadium, and candy. It was a perfect way to start his super fun birthday. They decided to use the few minutes we had left before leaving for school to try out his new gadgets and it was a perfect way to start off our morning. Daniel was so incredibly happy and excited that he ended up running into Brandon's arms thanking him with lots of smiles and appreciation.

We packed up the car with the kids and headed over to school and I attended the parent volunteer breakfast, while the kids headed into the play yard with a large bag of favors for Daniel's class of these Poke Balls with favors and candy. I was kind of bummed that there weren't a lot of Pokemon themed favors that were pretty cool like the Star Wars selection, so I opted to combine the two to join "forces" to celebrate Daniel's birthday, haha!

Afterwards, I headed over to the store to pick up these pretty awesome Star Wars cupcakes for Daniel's class. I have to admit that I actually wanted to keep a couple of these cupcakes for myself and I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan, ha! I delivered these to Daniel's class only to find that they had switched reading groups and he was with another teacher as head leveled up in his reading. Go Daniel!!!

I spent the rest of the day at home, cleaning up and getting ready for a small party with the neighborhood kids afterschool. After the boys got home, they finished their homework and chores and were allowed to ask three neighborhood friends over to join us and our good friends over for a little Make Your Own Pizza birthday celebration. I love doing this with the kids because it not only entertains them but feeds them as well. After creating their very own culinary delights, they played together while it baked in the oven.

I have to admit this was probably one of the most laid back birthday gatherings we've had at the house, but the kids enjoyed themselves playing together, eating what they created, having ice cream cups, yummy cake, some outside play, and just being kids.

Our birthday celebration isn't over just yet. We're having a more formal birthday party with family and friends this Saturday and I can't wait to update you all on that!

for now, I'm EXHAUSTED and am finding difficult to even continue on with this blog post. But I just had to share Daniel's big day. Turning 7 was pretty awesome =)
