This past weekend was a great busy weekend. Occasionally, I help the hubs with the biz when it's a huge event. He had enough staff to run the party but needed someone to run errands, and after 11 hours of non stop driving from here to Timbaktu I drove endlessly. I have to say that being busy is a great sign that not only is our business is thriving, but I get a new perspective of just how blessed we are to have what we do and also be reminded just how hard the hubs works. I can lose that perspective in my day to day routines, especially when it's as repetative as it is.
With the boys back in school and reconstruction of our home underway, I find a lot of things on the homefront completely disorganized and unfunctional and as a result our home isn't running as smooth as it should. Now, that I know pretty much the schedules of all the kids and myself a school year resolution of organization and calm is our goal and so far - though a bit tired, due to my own inability to sleep on time, we're starting off very well.
Back to the weekend - Our busy schedule didn't end just there, we had a floral appointment on Sunday for a friend of our gettings married at the end of October. So we visited their home and talked wedding, toting our two younger sons along. It's funny how you can relive your own very special day with every couple we meet - known or unknown, and still have so much fun helping them plan their big day.
Afterwards, we picked Brandon up from his Step Mom and Dad's place, then headed home where my sister and her girlfriend met up with us. We spent the evening chatting and watching some television over delivered pizza and leftover gallons of Haagan Daaz ice cream left over from the event the day before. One of the many perks of being married to a caterer is the abundance of leftover prep food that we don't want to go to waste. We buy in bulk at a local warehouse that caters to caterers and restuarants, so we're always left with tons of veggies, fruits, breads, and well, whatever else doesn't get used by our chefs. Tonight, we're having veggie and chicken breast penne pasta and I can't wait!
M doesn't have class today, so he and I have been spending some cuddling time over bowls of veggies and strawberries and playing games and just spending some quality toddler and Mommy time together. Later today we'll be picking the boys up from school alongside our carpool and then our routines start for the school week.
Life's been great, nothing to complain about on the home front. Sometimes I wonder just how much I need to function healthy. I wish I saw my friends and extended family more often, but then there are days like today where I realize that my life is just so perfect the way it is, why tempt fate and add unnecessary drama? I've got enough to keep smiling throughout the day, everything else is just a bonus. I am blessed beyond comprehension, sometimes I wonder what I ever did to deserve all that I have.
