The Late Night Rabbit

I had a really hard time falling asleep last night, but when I finally did I felt a light tap on my shoulder. Brandon was hovering over me, terrified and unable to catch his breath, he whispered to me, "Mommy, there's a rabbit in my bed."

Half asleep myself, I had to ask him to repeat himself, and thought perhaps he was just sleep walking so I rolled out of bed, forgetting my glasses, and guided him back to his room. He froze at the threshold of his bed and I said, "Sweetie, there's nothing there." He showed me that Daniel was sleeping in the guest room and that there was something in his bed. We couldn't find the remote control for the light switch, so the only light in the room was coming from the street lights outside of our window. I reached over toward the spot he claimed was the rabbit, a little skeptical myself, and was startled to feel that it was warm. Admittedly, I felt a little scared, so I shamelessly asked Brandon to pick up the toy sword that was from the toy box to poke it and maybe it would just move and get off the bed. When I asked Brandon to do this, he stared at me with the, "Are you serious? You're the adult here!" look.

So he spent a good five minutes poking it and then it started to move... a very big IT started to move. Remember, I don't have my glasses and I started to freak out a little bit, that is... until Brandon turned around and started laughing.

"Oh, it's Daniel"

This wins Best Rude Wake Up Call Ever Award in our family.

My poor, sleeping, baby boy was poked and whispered over for a good 20 minutes, LOL!

It wasn't till I got back to bed that I realized that I was terrified of a RABBIT! HAHA!
