Today started off really lazy, Jerry and I didn't make it out of bed till about 10 am and even then we kind of glided throughout the house.
After breakfast, he and I started working on a catering order for Braised Short Rib of Beef for about 75 people for a wedding tonight. I discovered that Jerry's incredibly stressed in the kitchen, where I was sort of at ease. Maybe because it was because I was used to being in a kitchen and knew that it would be finished and it would taste great in time for delivery. Who knows!
While Jerry and I worked relentlessly in the kitchen, the kids played not-so-nicely in the living room, making forts with the couch cushions and jumped around like super heroes. After the ribs were in the oven for a nice two and a half hour sauna treatment, Jerry got ready for work and headed off with the kids to Grandma's house. I was able to clean up a little bit in the kitchen, have a calm lunch, and watch a little TV of a show of my choosing...What did I watch you ask? Well iCarly of course! HA!
The ribs turned out amazing, but when it was time to transport the pans over to the hotbox in our delivery van the execution wasn't amazing at all. I underestimated the weight of the pans and at first try spilled a good portion of the juice all over my legs and feet. After screaming in excrutiating pain, I thought I gimmicked a fool proof plan - yeah... Not so much! Anyways, after about 20 minutes of agonizing and migrain inducing planning, oh! and about 5 cups worth of searing rib juice all over my newly mopped floor and carpet, I finally got the pans into the hotbox it so stubbornly refused to go into.
I headed over to our kitchen in Sun Valley and met up with Jerry to trade cars, then headed over to my mom's house to pick up the boys. Who were exhausted beyond belief after spending the afternoon swimming in the pool and eating endless amounts of ice cream. But when I mentioned that we were going over to Ninang Aliw's house, their eyes perked up and they were so excited to meet Baby Aeon
Before heading over to Aliw's house we stopped over at Yoshinoya to pick up some dinner for all of us. Man! I miss Yoshinoya... I know it's ghetto but I can't help but love the stuff! HAHA!
When we got to Aliw's house, I couldn't help but swoop Aeon into my arms... there's something about holding a newborn baby that just fills me with contentment. I long for another baby but know that it isn't an option right now. Maybe, one day. Maybe.
We spent the entire evening swooning over beautiful Aeon, taking pictures and putting cute flower bows on her, catching up with Aliw and just enjoying each other's company. I really miss my Aliw. My beh. She was there for me when I really, really... needed that best friend that I thought no longer existed. It's amazing what great friendships you can earn through the storms in your life. I hope she knows just how much I appreciate her and everything she's done for me. I only hope that I can return the favor, it's just a shame that I live so far from her now. If I could, I would take care of Aeon 24/7 - I love her THAT much, lol!
Jerry's still at work right now, and I took this short break to blog about just how wonderful our day is. Tomorrow, we're going to a BBQ at our friend Jerevi's house, then to Cynthia's house to celebrate Jamilah's birthday. It will for sure be another great day.
